Willow Lumber

Also referred to as Black Willow or Swamp Willow. It grows primarily in the Middle and Southern states, along the Mississippi River. It is used in furniture, mouldings and millwork, paneling, doors, sports equipment, kitchen utensils and toys. It is a good walnut substitute when stained. Willow works fairly easily with hand and machine tools but care is needed to avoid a fuzzy surface when interlocked grain is present.
