Maple is sold commercially as either Hard Maple or Soft Maple. Most of the highly figured Maple (curly, quilted, spalted, birdseye) that is offered in our auction listings are from the Hard Maple family.
Hard Maple grows in the Mid-Atlantic and Lake states. Hard Maple and Soft Maple lumber is used in furniture, paneling and millwork, kitchen cabinets, mouldings, doors, musical instruments, and turnings. Hard Maple is used more often in flooring and butcherblocks.
